What is your favourite thing about working at CBRE?

Aside from the culture, it would be the ability to tap into the shared knowledge that only a leading world-wide company can provide. I am yet to come across a professional situation that CBRE somewhere on the globe hasn’t been across. To be able to tap into this combined knowledge gives us all a huge competitive advantage.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to work at CBRE or in your profession?

Choose an area or sub market that genuinely excites you and become the expert.  Become the “go-to person”, be the one that everyone wants to talk to about what’s going on.  A lot of this is an advice led business, I’m a leasing agent and a lot of my time is spent fielding calls or presenting to major landlords, fund managers or tenants assisting them in understanding the intricacies of the local market. Rest assured if you do a good job at that it will come back tenfold when clients choose to act and transact.

Describe your current work assignment.

I am in charge of providing brokerage services to a wide range of clients in office buildings, which are located mainly in the areas of Shinjuku and Shibuya. I am currently working with 30-40 companies. An office is a base of business growth and a place to develop business for a company. As such, my role is to contribute to corporate growth by helping clients choose appropriate locations and spaces for their operations.

It has been six years since you started working in office services as a graduate. How has your career changed so far?

At first, I was in charge of smaller cases, such as relocating small offices. As time progressed, the number of clients that I found or was put in charge of increased. Furthermore, the number of repeat clients has increased for me. I am so happy to have helped clients during their initial growth stage who have then contacted me again when looking for a larger office.

Some words of advice for students?

One of the most attractive qualities of CBRE is that it offers you a lot of choices. However, it is important to continue to learn new things every day. One cannot stop learning after finishing university.
